Image of brewing equipment at YuenglingIn most of the country, small regional breweries have all but ceased to exist. National mega-brands have pushed the small breweries to the brink of extinction - everywhere, that is, except Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania's love affair with beer can be traced back to our earliest European settlers. In particular, the German and English immigrants brought with them a variety of brewing techniques, and by the late 1800's nearly every Pennsylvania town had at least one brewery.

Of the dozens of breweries that once thrived in Pennsylvania's cities and towns, six survive. Among them are America's oldest brewery (Yuengling) and the smallest (Straub).
